I don't really have a reason for my absence, nor will I bother to make excuses.
I'm starting rehearsals again soon. I'm hoping that it will help get my creative jucies flowing so to speak. I haven't written anything since the 24hour playwrighting competiton I did. And even that I've been meaning to get another look at and do some editing. Anyway, as always the future is full of potential...

So, I just got notice that my name has been drawn for entry into the ATP PlayRites 24 hour playwrights competition. This is great news, but at the same time frightening as it means I will now be expected to produce a new play in 24 hours or less and I'm not really sure at this point what the hell I'm going to write... Ah well, I'm sure I'll think of something...

More On Paint

music: I Got A Feeling - Eagles of Death Metal
So as I mentioned I played in a paintball tournament on the weekend. It was the MR Paintball Speedball Nationals. The team I was playing on was at the introductory level, which is good as most of us had played very little paintball in our time and I was the only member of the team to have met and played with all of the other members before the tournament. That being said it was alot of fun. We got beat pretty bad in our first few games, but we learned quickly and even managed to win a few, finishing ninth out of twelve in our division. That doesn't sound that great, but I think that it's about as good as could be expected and probably even better than some of us had hoped for.
Although, I will say one thing... I wish that I was fifteen and had rich parents!

An Odd Mood

music: It Was Love - The Elected
I had a great week going to the International Animated Objects Festival with my girlfriend this past week, followed by a fun filled weekend playing in the MR Paintball Nationals with friends. I was having a great day today. After finishing our last game I headed off to go see the last show of the festival with me girl. It was a good show. After we parted ways, as I needed to go home to do Laundry... sigh. Anyway, I was riding the bus home and that was fine I wlaked from the stop to my house and then as soon as I came in I started to feel a little sad and I do not know why. This has me a little confused...

A Choice

music: Love Train - Wolf Mother
So I have two vacation options this year... One is to go to Ireland with my Mom and my two sisters. Ireland is somewhere I've always wanted to go and I get along very well with my family. The other is Oktoberfest with friends, a very tempting option, but for the camping involved (not really my style). I've already tentatively agreed to going to Munich which will probably be the cheaper of the trips and the shorter one so I can still take some time off as paid vacation at another time in the year... Still Ireland would be wicked...
I wonder if there is some way to do both?

The Trials of a Furnace That Doesn't Work

So the pilot light went out on my furnace on the weekend and it simply didn't want to light. It would light no problem, but it wouldn't stay that way...
Long story short though, a furnace guy finally came and had to replace the thermal couple. Good timing too since it's supposed to get down to -37C tonight.

music: Loosing All Control - Rooney
So last year I was supposed to get married and eighteen days before the wedding my ex-fiance called it off. That was six months ago...
On Jan. 31st I got a call to inform me that my Mom had left my dad and they were going to be ending a marriage of 33 years in divorice.
Needless to say my faith in marriage is very shaken.
I don't really know how to expalin it, but the truth of the matter is I'm okay. I'm worried about my parents of course, but somehow I feel that this is for the best.
As for my own aborted marriage. I KNOW that was for the best. I'm already seeing a very nice girl.
Anyway, just feeling contemplative and felt like typing. Thought I'd share...

So This is how my Brain Works
Dec. 24th, 2006 | 01:29 pm
When I get out of the shower in my new place I can see the door in the mirror. For the past little while I've gotten out of the shower and seen a naked figure standing at the door through the mist. After a seconds panic I recognize said figure as my girlfriend's towel (which is vaguely skin coloured) hanging on the hook on the back of the door. As panic subsides my brian thinks sweet. My girlfriend is naked and waiting for me to get out of the shower, this is a great morning! But of course I then quickly recall that I've already identified the "naked figure" as just a towel. It's all very frustrating and makes me wish that my brain didn't have the hiccups of logic. I suppose it wouldn't bother me so much if it had been a one time occurrence, but no, it has happened four or five mornings in a row.

Stolen from a friend.
Step 1: Put your iTunes or equivalent on random. (in my case computer play list)
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarassing. (I'll give you the first 2 for some of them)
Step 3: Bold out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
google is cheating

My office is haunted. Not seriously haunted, but it is haunted. By a ghost, a real ghost. His name is Gerald. To be honest he isn’t a very good ghost. He doesn’t make the walls bleed, or levitate small objects, or even make eerie noises. In fact he is a rather boring ghost. All he does is collate. He spends eternity collecting documents from the copy room, bringing them to the coffee room and sorting them. That’s it.
I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised by this, Gerald was rather dull in life as well. Oh yes, I knew him when he was alive, he worked in our office then too. Although I didn’t really talk to him much in those days. He always used to show up for work ten minutes early, get a coffee, go to his desk and sharpen his pencils. Once that task was finished he’d work steady until ten o’clock, take a break, go to work until lunch, come back from lunch and work until two, take another break and then work until quitting time. You could set your watch by the guy. He always did the same thing at the same time and rarely talked to anyone.
That’s why it was such a surprise the day he came in late. Everyone thought it a little odd when eight am rolled around and Gerald wasn’t there. No one knew him well enough to be worried, but around ten after eight our boss got a phone call that Gerald had been in a car accident and been killed. An announcement was made about the tragedy. Everyone was shocked, but no one cried. No one knew him well enough. About twenty minutes later Gerald came in though the door and sat down at his desk as if nothing had happened. There was blood dripping down his forehead and I could see through him.
I can only guess that Gerald saw the bright light white, but was so concerned that he’d be late for work he ignored it and kept going. He’s been at work every work day since, and I assume he will be here long after I’ve moved on.
